Iochdar Saints vs North Uist United (Summer Cup)

vs

North Uist United vs Eriskay (Summer Cup)

North Uist United 1 Eriskay 2

We had a really strong performance on Friday dominating possession and chances created, however we were seriously sloppy for the two goals we conceded. Although we had numerous chances we found ourselves 0-1 down at half time.

After the break the game was a bit more even with both teams getting chances before really poor defending from a corner led to another Eriskay goal. We piled the pressure on for the remainder of the game and got a goal back from a good bit of play down the left and a real tidy finish from Lewis Macdonald. We pushed and probed for the rest of the game but we couldn’t find an equaliser despite us hitting the woodwork four times throughout the game. 1-2 the game finished.

MOTM: There’s a number of players to choose from this week with the youngsters in the team doing particularly well. I feel that Calum MacDonald deserves it for this one for the major threat he posed down the right hand side and was seriously unlucky not to score a couple after hitting the crossbar three times.

Many thanks

North Uist United vs Iochdar Saints (Summer Cup)

North Uist United 1-7 Iochdar Saints

We went into the game missing a few key players but we started reasonably well battling through the first half defending the goal well when required. We were by no means the better team but we did have good moments in the game. We unfortunately conceded a penalty in the first half though which Saints converted to make it 0-1 going into half time.

We started the second half high on confidence after our showing in the first. This was short lived though after we were caught sleeping from kick off and conceded in the first minute of the half. The game continued in this manner with us conceding one after the other until we eventually got one back from an Andrew MacSween penalty in the 75th minute to make it 1-6. We tried to get up the park to make something happen but to no avail and Saints eventually ended the game 1-7 winners. Again the only positives we could take from the game is the few youngsters that got some valuable minutes under their belt.

MOTM: Unfortunately I’m not going to award anyone again for this game. In the first half there were a few candidates but the second half undid all the good work done in the first.

Our next game is away to Ness on Saturday at noon in the Co-op cup.

Eriskay vs North Uist United (Summer Cup)

Eriskay 7 North Uist United 0

I’m going to keep this one brief as there aren’t many positives to speak of. We started off slowly in the game which seems to be a common theme at the minute with Eriskay two up in a matter of minutes. We had odd moments of decent play in the first half but Eriskay were dominant and managed to get another two goals before half time making it 0-4 at the break.

We certainly improved slightly second half with a change in system and personnel, however we were still well short of the level that is required. With the score at 0-6 things went from bad to worse when Mark MacInnes was sent off for a last man challenge. Eriskay actually scored from the resulting free kick which completed the rout.

MOTM: Nobody gets the award this week as no one stood out and our good moments were few and far between. An honourable mention for Alexander MacDonald who came on at half time and performed well on the right side of a back three and also Kieran MacIsaac who came on for the last 30 mins and made a good account of himself. The only positive we can take from this game is the youngsters that played and gained some valuable minutes and experience.

Our next game is on Tuesday 7th June Vs Iochdar Saints in the summer cup at 7pm in Paible. Hope to see another good turnout for our last home game for a while.
